Culinaria, a Schnucks Market brand, is a distinctive urban market place located in downtown St. Louis on the first level of the Ninth Street Parking garage. The grocery retailer created this new store brand to position itself in the city neighborhood as a boutique urban market place. The Culinaria brand identity is fully integrated into the store design and a large selection of the finest specialty premium foods, culinary services, and merchandise throughout the store. KdG, working closely with the client, reshaped 27,000 sq. ft. of concrete parking garage structure and created, through careful design and planning, a branded culinary boutique market place. The architecture and design of the store thoroughly integrates and supports the strong Culinaria brand message of “Quality, Freshness, and Convenience”. As an example, the store is planned with convenient free parking in the garage levels above with elevator access directly into the store at street level. Also, the freshly prepared food area is planned and designed as a display stage for the expert Chefs to create the day’s menu selections in full view of the patrons, reinforcing the “Made Fresh” concept. Reinforcing “Quality”, planned islands feature fresh imported fine foods, cheeses, and a 6,000 square foot mezzanine, accessed by a grand staircase, is the home of the Culinaria wine shop. This venue offers a vast selection of world-class wines and features a wine bar for tastings. The exceptional Culinaria market offers the urban neighborhood a very convenient, boutique shopping experience.
