KdG is the architect and engineer of record for the Humane Society of Missouri’s new flagship facility located at the intersection of Page Avenue and Schuetz Road in Maryland Heights, Missouri. The new, three-story, “Best Buddy Pet Center” provides 61,000 sq. ft. of space and includes animal adoption, full veterinarian hospital services, a gift shop, animal training, auditorium space, corporate offices, and an adjoining dog park. The facility has the capacity to accommodate approximately 450 animals, seven exam rooms, and two surgical rooms. KdG provided complete architectural, interior, and engineering design, construction document, and construction administration services. KdG worked closely with the HSMO Administrative and Operations staff to program and plan the complexities of the operation of the building. Careful consideration was given to synchronize the interior departmental functions and future expansion of the second floor to accommodate corporate office needs.
