Caesars Entertainment engaged KdG on the expansion of the Harrah’s Hoosier Park casino as a reaction to the State of Indiana 2019 ruling allowing casinos to add table games to the gaming floor. The expansion consists of approximately 37,000 square feet of casino building including gaming floor and back-of-house support spaces. In addition to 67 new table games, the floor expansion allows for the addition of 250 slot machines for a total of 1,776 gaming units. The planning and design process established the building expansion parameters to encompass the front of the building allowing for the opportunity to enhance the site circulation, add a new, enlarged port cochere, and new front building façade. The new building materials and color-changing lights celebrate the Harrah’s brand, elevating the entire guest arrival experience to the property while expressing excitement to the patrons at first glance of the property. The renovation of the existing casino includes a new High Limit table game and slot area directly adjacent to the new table game pits. Punctuated by a dynamic perimeter architectural sculpture created from floor to ceiling wood-framed glass which is interrupted by open railing and frames the angular entry portal made of full-height Carrara marble. The upscale gaming space entices guests to enter and play.
The large expansion of the casino floor and the addition of table games necessitated the back-of-house office space addition to support the new gaming floor. New table game offices, card and dice storage, and destruction space, and new finance offices are added to the footprint of the building along with enlarging human resources department and training areas. Additional employees required new and improved workspaces and furnishings, as well as a new team dining room which includes a full kitchen, including dishwashing, and a hot/cold food service line in addition to grab & go counter service. Overall the property is dramatically improved offering great new amenities for both the casino guest and the property staff.
