Meskwaki Engineering Plant – Tama, Iowa

At the Meskwaki Casino & Hotel resort property, which includes over 290,000 sq. ft. of casino and amenities, a 750-seat bingo hall, a new 30,000 sq. ft. convention center, two high-rise hotels, a three-level parking garage, and RV park, KdG provided the central plant design. This includes four hot water gas-fired boilers having a total capacity of 3500 MBH heating, five water-cooled indoor chillers with a total capacity of 1800 tons cooling, and four cooling towers of equal capacity totaling 1800 tons for the casino, bingo hall, and convention center. KdG provided the design of a 2800 KW, 3500 KVA, prime-rated, utility-grade generator that provides a source of power for Level 2 applications. In addition, KdG designed paralleling switchgear, multiple transfer switches, and three other generators (none smaller than 1500 KW) to cogenerate power and provide emergency standby power for the entire complex all at once. All lighting, power, and systems design (including BMS, fire alarm, and sound) were provided as well.
