Locale Market is a curated, gourmet grocery envisioned by Michael Mina and Don Pintabona. KdG worked with the developer, Edwards Group, and operator, Mina Group, to bring the vision to life. The approximately 18,000 square foot, two-story space includes eight food hawker stations, including pasta, seafood, meat, and charcuterie. The second floor includes Farmtable Kitchen, which allows patrons to experience the flavors of the Market in a farm-to-table dining atmosphere. The interior concept of the space reflects both Mina’s California style and Pintabona’s East Coast style. The focus of the design was to give a clean, simple backdrop to highlight the unique and varied food offerings. Clean white subway tiles, stone countertops, whitewashed wood planking, and an exposed concrete floor create a blend inspired by Napa wineries and New York City architecture on the first floor. The second floor has more of a farmhouse feel with wood-look plank tile flooring, a wine bar designed with heavy farm table legs with galvanized pipe accents and a wood beam and plank ceiling. The furniture and lighting for the space reinforce the marriage of the two styles. The foodservice equipment package for the Market is top of the line and required detailed coordination from KdG both in terms of design and engineering requirements. Yet again though the focus is the food, not the systems required to create the extraordinary food options.
